This Paradise is Real, and Affordable -- And Mexico Insider
is the Key to Unlocking It For Yourself!
|
A Special Message from Kathleen Peddicord, Publisher, International Living
Dear Prospective Mexico Insider Subscriber,
If I were considering a move to Mexico... or an investment in that country (as,indeed, we are right now...more on this in a moment)...I'd want help.
You know my story. I moved from the East Coast of the United States toWaterford, Ireland, nine years ago. Then, three years ago, my husband, Lief Simon, and I established a second home for our family in
Paris.
In that same nine-year period, we also established bases of operation for International Living in Nicaragua, Panama, Ecuador, Mexico, Honduras,Argentina, Croatia, Romania, and Italy. We move around a lot, and we do
business, at a local level, in at least a dozen countries. Lief and I have active real estate interests in nine markets.
All this begs a question: How in the world do we manage it? How do we choose what to do where and when? How do we decide who we can trust? How do we choose our partners? How do we keep out of trouble?
How do we manage the paperwork?
We have help.
We're fortunate (and we realize it). This is our business. We're able to focus our time and all our resources on identifying the world's best opportunities at any moment for fun and for profit.
Once you embrace this idea of International Living...once you open your mind to the possibilities...your life can get complicated. Suddenly, you're faced with near-infinite choices. It can be overwhelming. You can be intimidated
into non-action. The more closely you look...the more experienced at these International Living ideas you become...the more you realize...this ain't easy.
You need help.
We're not thinking right now of moving to Mexico...but Lief and I are considering a second property investment in that country. As our time allows, we're continuing our research and our due diligence. Meantime, of
course, the clock is ticking...and the marketing is moving.
Good thing for us, we have help. We can focus but some of our time and energy thinking about opportunities in Mexico.
Ah, but Dan Prescher and Suzan Haskins, our man and woman on the ground in that country...they've been in Mexico for five years now and have been able to focus their time, attention, and resources on understanding the choices in their adopted home country for both living and investing.
Mexico is a big place. Nearly three times the size of Texas with 5,800 miles of coastline. Caribbean coast...Pacific coast...Baja coast...colonial cities...mountain towns...even after you've decided Mexico is a place you ought
to be paying attention to (and I'd argue it is)...your work has only begun.
Where in Mexico?
Depends on your agenda, of course, and your priorities.Your options are unlimited. Your time, of course, is not.
You need help.
When we need help (as we do right now to figure out where best to invest further in Mexico's coastal real estate market), Lief and I rely on our in-house resources.
Over 27 years in this business, International Living has invested a great deal in building an infrastructure of contacts in the world's most appealing markets for the expatriate, the retiree, and the investor. No other international network compares. We know. We put these IL in-country experts to the test regularly. We rely on them for help when investing our own money...even when planning for our family's future.
When we wanted to establish a base in Paris, we looked no furtherthan our IL Paris team. With their help, the process of finding an apartment, renovating it, enrolling our two children in school, establishing offices, opening bank accounts, and having the cable and wireless networks installed (no trivial things) was accomplished in record time (our notaire told us he'd never, in his decade of experience, had a closing proceed so quickly). And we avoided two could-have-been disastrous missteps.
You can guess by now, I'm sure, who we'd turn to if we were thinking of a
move to Mexico.
Dan and Suzan know Mexico like nobody I know knows Mexico. After almost five years living in the country and traveling it from top to bottom, end to end, mountain to coast...putting down roots, buying a home, renovating it...they're serious experts. I should mention that although Dan and Suzan spent the last year in Panama and Nicaragua on International Living's behalf, they have now returned to Mexico-that's how deep their commitment and love for Mexico is. For them, no place stacks up to Mexico.
If you're considering a move or an investment in Mexico...and you realize (as I hope you do) that you need help...my strong recommendation is that you dowhat we do: Leverage the IL network. Why invest your own limited time and limited resources in research that's already been done...better (frankly) and more extensively than you're likely ever to be able to do it on your own?
Dan and Suzan make it easy. They package their experiences and their growing expertise in Mexico Insider, a monthly publication that Suzan oversees. She has writers and editors to help provide additional perspective, of course, but as executive editor, she makes sure that all the information you receive is as factual and up-to-date as possible. Legal and immigration issues, detailed reports about locales you may never have heard of where Mexican charm is fully intact and property prices are very reasonable. There's nothing else on the market to compare. Yes, I'm their publisher. Yes, I'm biased. But I'm also an expat and an investor and I can recognize what makes sense when it smacks me in the face.
Mexico Insider makes sense for anyone thinking about living or investing in
this country.

Living On Mexico Time!
You'd be amazed if we told you all Mexico has to offer...from a laid-back, down-to-earth lifestyle to luxury resort-style mansion living.
And that's just what we'd like to do.
We'd like to present you with an almost unbelievable chance to gain direct access to Mexico's most timely and attractive lifestyle and investment opportunities.
Dear International Living Reader,
We have to admit it...we must have one of the best jobs in the world. Living in Mexico, enjoying the best climate we've ever experienced, traveling around this magnificent country searching out the best deals and opportunities possible for people who dream about living La Vida Mexico for themselves. And it's a wonderful dream--one that you can make come true for yourself.
Just the name Mexico inspires a host of alluring images...moon-lit fiestas, strolling mariachis, relaxing white-sand beaches, ancient colonial towns set in the rugged Sierras, even more ancient Mayan pyramids rising from the misty Yucatan jungle.
And no matter what your budget...or your perfect dream location...Mexico offers you options. More than you can imagine. When you discover a true 'insider's' look at what Mexico can deliver in terms of value and lifestyle, we believe that you'll agree: Mexico delivers more possibilities than virtually any other destination. Let us give you a peek at what we've found in the last year...
On the Pacific Coast...
*** You can own beachfront property in a brand new development next door to the most expensive development in Puerto Escondido. Roads, water and electricity are already in place You can own oceanfront, lagoon front or ocean view properties here starting at $37,000. We don't think that you could go wrong in this quickly developing region on the West Coast of Mexico.
On a Caribbean Island...
*** We recently wrote about a beautiful Caribbean island...just a short jaunt from Cancun. (And no, it is not Isla Mujeres or Cozumel.) This will be Mexico's next tourism playground... mark our words. And if you go there now... and know who to contact when you get there, you may very well end up with a prime piece of paradise in a quickly appreciating market. (If you'd like to buy a parcel of prime beachfront to a develop or have ever wanted to build your own B&B or tourism business, you'll want to know more about this island of opportunity.)
On the Flamingo Coast
*** Along the beautiful Flamingo Coast near Merida, Mexico, we recently found some beachfront lots so appealing and so well priced, we couldn't resist buying two of them for ourselves. We plan to build our own perfect vacation home here in a warm, tropical climate, with a safe and friendly atmosphere. Because of the booming tourism market, we think it has potential as a rental property too. We paid just $32,000 each for our lots--each of which is well over one-third of an acre in size.
In the temperate Colonial Highlands...
*** A brand new, three-bedroom, three-bath home in a fertile green valley just outside popular San Miguel de Allende with den, modern kitchen, wine cellar and access to clubhouse facilities including riding stables, pool, tennis, Jacuzzi, weight room and full-service spa. U.S.-quality construction and fixtures throughout, year-round Spring weather, and close to an international airport, golf, shopping and the colorful charm and traditions of central Mexico. And the total price is less than $275,000
|
You Have Endless Options In Scenic, Romantic Mexico!
|
*** Little silver mining towns where the winding streets seem to run straight up into the clouds and three dollars can fill your shopping tote to the brim with fresh fruits and vegetables from the weekly market.
*** Fishing villages where the boats land in the morning with the giant snapper you'll have for lunch, sauteed with garlic or simmered in a diablo sauce that will make you call out for another ice-cold cerveza. Or buy the whole fish right off the boat for three dollars (plus the quarter you pay the fisherman's son to carry it home for you) and cook it yourself.
*** Desert towns surrounded by endless stretches of saguaro cactus under the bluest skies imaginable, where the local delicacy is birria--goat stewed in a rich broth or roasted whole on large skewers set around circular fire pits.
For all these reasons and more, Mexico is one of the world's top destinations for those dreaming of a relaxed and romantic new life abroad.
Escaping the rat race...
|
Mexico has it all...rich culture, perfect climate, affordable living...not to mention mountains, beaches, deserts and just about every kind of landscape in between.
After living and working in Ecuador on behalf of International Living , we didn't think it could get better. But we must admit...we've fallen in love with Mexico.
This is Your Invitation to Explore 'La Vida Mexico!'
This is the best time ever for you to consider your options in this beautiful country. No matter what your budget...or your dream location...Mexico offers you opportunities. More than you can imagine.
I'd like to offer you five FREE invaluable, hot-off-the-presses reports:
MeXico: 'X' Marks The Spot -- The Top Ten Places To Live, Work, Retire, or Invest in Mexico -- We've traveled all over Mexico... and picked our favorites. Every place we visit we make a detailed rating based on 11 criteria on a 10-point scale:
* Weather And Climate * Cultural Activities
* Health Care * Other Activities
* Overall Attractiveness * Communication Infrastructure
* Housing Availability * Daily Living Costs
* Housing Costs * Ease Of Doing Business (rated separately)
* Accessibility To An Airport
Our approach is comprehensive. We total the first ten criteria into a composite score that allows us to pick our Top Ten from all of the available choices. (We rate 'Ease of Doing Business' separately, because that's not of interest to everyone.)
Mexico is a BIG country. About three times the size of Texas with over 5,700 miles of coastline. We haven't seen it all... but we've checked out most of the premiere locations in order to find...
10 'Million Dollar' Properties at Half Price or Less -- You would be knocked off your feet to see what you can own in Mexico for $250,000-$500,000. Many IL readers have taken equity in property that they've owned for years in the US and now are worth far more than what they were 10, 20, 30 or more years ago. When they downsize in the U.S., they find that their equity affords them luxurious living in Mexico. You can trade in your suburban home in the U.S. for a villa, colonial mansion, ranch, or seaside estate South of the Border. Live in splendor, with architectural elegance, expansive views, in a relaxed lifestyle. In Mexico, you can easily afford the help that makes this style of living EASY!
Mexico's Top Ten Beachfront Deals Under $100K -- Beachfront living is priced well outside the reach of most people in the U.S. today. But we've found gorgeous and virtually undiscovered beaches in locations that we love with lots starting as low as $30,000 USD. We've identified our Top Ten List of Mexican beachfront living you can enjoy for under $100,000. You can't find anything like this in the US for anywhere near the price.
Guide to Buying Property in Mexico -- This is our guide to everything that you need to know before you scoop up one of these South of the Border bargains. We share or experience in the Mexican property market and tell you how to proceed step-by-step. What to look for and what to avoid. This one publication could save you a bundle... and a load of heartaches and disappointments.
Moving to Mexico: Now What? -- We've already made the move! There are nine things I wish that someone had given me a straightforward explanation about... before we plunged in. It's all in this informative report. You'll arrive in Mexico ready to take advantage of all the opportunity Mexico offers. Don't think about moving to Mexico without reading this one.
Why Mexico Insider is Your Ultimate Guide to La Vida Mexico
Mexico is closer and more convenient than ever before. If you've ever wondered why you should put up with bad weather, high prices, dull surroundings and a hectic lifestyle a moment longer, now is the time to think of Mexico.
That's why we've started MEXICO INSIDER. This new subscription service is the perfect tool for making your Mexican fantasies come true. Once a month, we'll deliver directly to your e-mail in-box the most current, most valuable, most actionable information available on Mexican real estate.
It's a publication that you can't afford to pass up. Here's why:
Sooner than you think, you could find yourself the proud owner of your own beachfront home on the Caribbean coast or a magnificent town home in Mexico's Colonial heartland.
We recently gazed at the clear turquoise water of the Sea of Cortez from large ocean-view lots in Baja California. Close enough to drive to Cabo for lunch and yet well off the beaten path, these striking lots were on offer for less than $45,000.
Why Is Mexico The #1 Destination For Americans Who Move Overseas?
1. The cost of living is lower. Your cost of living will depend where you live and your lifestyle. But here, you can enjoy more for less!
2. The weather is better. There's plenty of beautiful sunshine everywhere in Mexico.
3. The economic and political climates are stable. Mexico is a stable multiparty democracy. Its economy is growing nicely. Tourism is booming.
4. Health care is excellent and affordable. Many Americans come to Mexico simply for dental care and elective surgery.
5. English is widely spoken. Many people find that they can get along just fine with little more than 'hola' and 'gracias.'
6. Foreigners can buy and sell property. The Mexican legal system protects the rights of foreign property owners. Here you can enjoy owning the kinds of property that might be priced out of your budget in the U.S.
7. It's close. One reason more people choose Mexico than any other International destination.
These are the kinds of deals we tell you about in MEXICO INSIDER. Similar opportunities are available from one end of Mexico to the other, along with a lifestyle to match. And lifestyle is what Mexico is all about.
Although Mexico is solidly in the first world--and believe us, after spending a couple of years abroad in Central and South America, that is something we really appreciate. It has all the good roads, high-speed communications and top-notch healthcare that you'd expect. (It is the closest southern neighbor to the U.S. and a NAFTA partner after all). But with all that, it is still...well...Mexico!
Mexico's Caribbean coast is the equal of any tropical destination in the world. Charming little Isla Mujeres is just a short ferry ride from the shopping and entertainment mecca of Cancun, but it feels a world apart. You can still find deals here...and we'll point them out to you as we uncover them.
Outside the major cities, life moves at a pace little changed in the last 500 years. People are relaxed, friendly, and take time to chat with each other when they meet on the cobblestone streets of the village. Neighbors actually know and watch out for each other. Their concerns are real concerns: family, friends, the latest crop, and the day's catch. The weighty and often abstract cares of modern life that we're used to seem far, far away.
|
Escape to Your Mexican Paradise... In Your Own Car
|
This is the best part. Mexico's relaxed and refreshing lifestyle, like something out of a 19th-century travelogue, isn't half a world away. It's within driving distance of the U.S. and Canada!
Fly if you like. Of course, Mexico is well served by a large number of international airports with regularly scheduled flights from all over the world. But imagine having the option of driving to and exploring this magnificent country in your own car, at your own pace. Stop where you want to... Eat wherever you feel like it... Imagine returning to the States and not having to worry about skyrocketing airfares, annoying airport searches, being herded like cattle through lines and security or, God forbid, no air service at all thanks to unpredictable and often violent world events.
That's a plus that other destinations with this kind of weather, culture and lifestyle just can't match. And MEXICO INSIDER gives you the tools and the insights to take advantage of everything Mexico has to offer.
Imagine eating huge steaks of fresh Dorado, pulled from the sea just minutes before, charcoal-grilled to order at a restaurant overlooking the pounding Pacific surf, and getting out the door for less than $8.
Now imagine being out on that clear blue ocean in your own boat with a pole in your hands, catching that Dorado yourself.

Your New Life in Mexico...
|
You're sitting on the terrace of your house in a mountain village and hearing the sound of guitars, mariachi horns and singing coming down the street. The music gets closer and closer until, right in front of you, a traditional wedding procession passes by...entirely on horseback! The women ride sidesaddle, dressed in billowing skirts of red, green and white, their hair piled high with garlands of fresh flowers. The men wear the tight embroidered jackets and riding pants of the charro, the Mexican cowboy, and everything--including their broad-brimmed sombreros--is trimmed in silver. Under their expert hands, their horses actually dance down the street.
But this isn't a pipe dream. It's not a show put on for tourists. A procession just like this went past our house last week! This is real life in Mexico, and we're living it now. And this same life is within your reach with MEXICO INSIDER In Mazatlan, far from the modern, gated communities on the north side where most expats live, the city's charming historic center is undergoing a renaissance. All the grace and beauty of old Colonial Mexico is here waiting...if you know where to look.
This lifestyle and the real estate deals to make it possible are available from one end of Mexico to the other, and MEXICO INSIDER puts it all at your fingertips. We cover the entire country making valuable contacts in Mexico's most desirable areas so you can find the place in Mexico that's right for you. If you want to get started on this adventure..

Our Friends Are Already Enjoying Life on Mexican Time
|
We want to help you do what so many of our friends here have done. Get off the tread mill and ease yourself into Mexican time...a slower, more relaxed, healthier way to live.
Friends like Walt and Jean Smith, who moved to the village of Ajijic in Mexico's state of Jalisco after becoming fed up with the rat race in Houston, Texas. Their dream was to own a little bed and breakfast, and they found the perfect property just three blocks off the main square.
After some remodeling, Casa Flores became one of the most charming B&Bs in the area. But the Smiths always have something cooking...so when the B&B was up and running they started on a new house for themselves next door. Walt personally supervised construction, and built a casa bonita with two roomy bedrooms, two full baths, modern kitchen, tiled Jacuzzi, and rooftop terrace, all built in the local boveda, or vaulted-ceiling, style. And get this...it was all done for under $75,000.
Nancye and Mac Radmin escaped the New York rat race...and fell in love with little Puerto Escondido, a fishing village on Mexico's Pacific coast that is also one of the world's top surfing destinations.
Nancye and Mac don't surf, but Puerto's warm weather and breathtaking cliff-top views of the ocean sunsets are their idea of heaven on Earth. And you can't get that in New York...even in a multi-million dollar penthouse. They built their dream home atop the cliffs between two of Puerto's most beautiful white sand beaches. You couldn't touch the same home on the California coast for less than $1.5 million, and the panorama from their veranda...priceless!
But their dream home wasn't a multi-million dollar expense...it cost far less than a simple apartment in their NYC neighborhood.
Nancy's dream lifestyle included relaxation, but not idleness. She started a little import shop in the village. The furniture and design elements she brings in from the Far East and around the world now grace some of Puerto's most beautiful homes. She's having a blast...and making a profit.

Enjoy a 'Rolls Royce' lifestyle on a 'Honda Civic' budget
This chart gives you an idea of the monthly expenses a couple might incur living comfortably in Mexico. Everyone has different lifestyle requirements. You could live on less. All prices are in U.S. dollars:
Housing (rental of a two-bedroom home)—$800
Utilities (electricity, gas, water, phone, cable TV, Internet)—$175
Groceries—$300
Entertainment (dining out and other activities)—$250
Incidentals—$100
--------
Monthly total: $1,625
This adds up to $19,500 per year.
But, as we said, everyone’s lifestyle requirements are different. You could live on less. It’s possible to rent a place for $400 a month (or even less). If you don’t need a cable TV or Internet, you can save on those expenses.
If you like to go out to eat frequently, like to travel, play golf, scuba dive, etc., you will obviously spend more money—but still, much less than you would, no doubt, spend for a similar lifestyle in the U.S. (And with much better weather!)

Ron and Gwen Brown bowed out of a cutthroat business in Canada to live on little Isla Mujeres, in the Caribbean just off Mexico's east coast. Ron is now one of two real estate brokers on the island, and he and Gwen built their dream home on the island's windward side. They prefer the wind and waves there to the calmer leeward shore. They also prefer the land prices, which are 20-30 percent cheaper than the leeward side! (You'll be privy to insider scoops like this valuable information in every issue of MEXICO INSIDER.)
You'll have access to our contacts...friends...insights...and personal advice in every issue of MEXICO INSIDER.
Mexico is big. And we'll cover it all...coast to coast...border to border. The information that you receive will never be more than a couple of weeks old. You will have access to everything we discover...the bargains...the best undiscovered locations...the overlooked jewels...the lifestyles...and yes...the pitfalls and unvarnished truths, too.
Did we mention that we had a dream job? Traveling the length and breadth of Mexico gathering this kind of information is hard to beat. But the real payoff for us is sharing this vital information with as many IL readers as possible. So we're making you a deal packed with so much information and so many benefits that, if you're serious about Mexico, you won't be able to resist.
